2018-10-26

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has released its 2019 Asia University Rankings, and ZJU makes it into the top 20 universities in Asia, rising eight places from last year’s 21st to 13th.

This year, the number of universities featured in the QS Asia rankings is increased from 450 to 505. With 111 featured universities, Chinese Mainland has made impressive progress in the rankings. Five of them are listed in the top 20, including Tsinghua University at 3rd, Peking University at 5th, Fudan University at 6th and Shanghai Jiao Tong University at 19th, all improving their position. As Ben Sowter, Research Director at QS puts it, Mainland China's impressive investment in education and research is paying off”.

Earlier this year, ZJU saw a 19-spot improvement and was ranked 68th in the QS World University Rankings 2019. It was also named the top 100 most innovative universities in the world by Reuters this month. It seems the big moves made by the University in the past few years, especially its focus on the internationalization, are paying off.

“Rankings are some of the indicators that help us see how well the University has been playing in the higher education community. But the excellence in education and research, and the service we provide for the community and the world are the things we really care about.” Says LI Min, director of the Office of International Relations.
