Shanghai Seeking Capital Investment Management Co. Ltd. Donates 1.1bn Yuan to Zhejiang University

On May 3, Shanghai Seeking Capital Investment Management Co. Ltd., which was founded in 2015 by Zhejiang University alumni, donated a total of 1.1 billion yuan over a 10-year period to set up a special education fund with a view to propelling the construction of Zhejiang University into a world-class university.

Present at the donation ceremony were Jin Deshui, Party Chief of Zhejiang University, Wu Zhaohui, President of Zhejiang University, Wang Yuan, President of Shanghai Seeking Capital Investment Management Co. Ltd., and Hu Haiping, Director of the Zhejiang University Alumni Association in Shanghai. Hu Wei, Assistant President of Zhejiang University, signed the donation ceremony with Wang Yuan.

Jin Deshui pointed out that this partnership was innovative in terms of model, institution and conception, reflecting the integration between financial capital and the university, talents as well as technology.

Wang Yuan said that this donation was aimed at giving something back to his alma mater in an effective and sustainable manner by means of the marketization of the platform, thus achieving a win-win situation in various ways.

In accordance with the donation agreement, the donation will be channeled into the establishment of Zhejiang University Seeking Capital Industrial & Financial Research Center in support of faculty, academic research, talent cultivation and international cooperation. The first 12 million yuan will go to a special international exchange scholarship to encourage outstanding students to participate in overseas studies, international exchanges programs and joint programs.
