HK University Students Visit ZJU


In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong to the motherland, the Hong Kong Chinese Importers’& Exporters’ Association organized a trip to Hangzhou on June 11. A total of 6 Hong Kong university students from the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Sydney, paid a visit to Zhejiang University to know about its entrepreneurial and innovative projects.

Zijin Startup Space is a startup incubation program established by Zhejiang University. It provides hardware and software support for college students, including offices, entrepreneurship training and counseling. HK students had a tangible feeling about startups at Zhejiang University.

“Will you select beautiful or ugly fruits in a supermarket?” the Ugly Fruit startup team asked. 6 HK students selected ‘good-looking fruits’ in unison. The Ugly Fruit startup team then introduced that a tremendous number of fruits would be wasted due to their ugly appearance. They advocated non-discriminatory consumerism by which they processed ugly but tasteful fruits into jams, thereby effectively reducing resource waste. Their creative idea receivedrapturous applause from HK students.

During their visit, HK students also acquainted themselves with the smart campus of Zhejiang University. They were remarkably impressed by the great achievements that the Chinese mainland has made
