Professor of Education receives letter of thanks from UNESCO

Dr. KAN Yue, a professor at ZJU’s College of Education, has recently received a letter of thanks from Ms. Andrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO.

In the letter, Ms. Azoulay expressed appreciation of Dr. KAN’s participation in and commitment to the preparation of the future Global Convention on the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications.

“Throughout eighteen months, your reflections, inputs and expertise have been essential in realizing the preliminary draft of the future Global Convention presented to the UNESCO governing bodies this autumn,” Ms. Azoulay wrote.

In November 2017, the 39th Session of the General Conference of UNESCO approved the formulation of the Global Convention on the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications with a view to providing a global framework of universal principles and rules for the recognition of higher education titles, diplomas and certificates. Dr. KAN serves as a member of the drafting committee.

This convention will have a complementary role covering also the inter-regional academic mobility. It will provide principles and provisions to be applied to all regions while being sufficiently flexible to consider the diversity of higher education systems around the world. It is forecast to be adopted in November 2019.
