ZJU moves up to No. 3 in THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2019

2019-01-16

Jumping three places from last year, ZJU makes it into the top three in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2019. The University has seen improvements in many aspects, especially in international outlook, teaching and industry income, according to THE.

China again dominates the ranking: universities from Chinese mainland account for seven spots out of the top ten universities.  Altogether 104 Chinese universities are represented in the list (72 from Chinese mainland and 32 from China's Taiwan). This year, Tsinghua University surpassed Peking University to claim first place in the ranking.

Ellie Bothwell, Global Rankings Editor for THE, said: “China is reaping the benefits of having long ago positioned its institutions at the heart of its national economic growth strategy.

“The nation’s success – on not only the emerging stage, but also the global one – is underpinned by its solid and sustained investment and strengthening international focus, working to attract top global talent and be part of strong international research collaborations.”
