National Engineering Technology Research Center for Coal Water Slurry Technology,Institute of Combustion Technology

Institute for Combustion Technology at Zhejiang University is an special institution to study combustion technology of coal slurry under National Coal Slurry Engineering Research Center, which is one of National Engineering and Technology Research Center authorized by National Scientific and Technical Committee in 1992.

Based on the 20 years plentiful research work, technical development and engineering application, the center has developed 15 techniques for coal slurry, including coal slurry nozzle, coal slurry burner, online coal slurry filter, technical retrofit of coal-slurry fired boiler and so on. There are 13 test facilities for coal slurry combustion and flow, which include 6MW Large Combustion Test Facility and 3~8 T/H Coal Slurry Nozzle Atomizing Test Facility, etc. There are 14 advanced test instruments. Now, it has completed more than 20 engineering design items, of which 9 have been put in practice. For example, 220T/H oil fired boiler of Baiyanghe Plant in Shandong province been retrofitting into CWS fired boiler is on long running, which is the first time for oil-fired boiler been retrofitted to burn CWS in China, and the 35T/H specially-designed CWS-fired boiler of Beijing 1st Paper Mill is the first cogeneration boiler which is specially designed for burning CWS. In recent years, Institute for Combustion Technology has published morn than 100 papers and been authorized 9 patents, and received Key Brainstorm Technical Development Awards 2 times CO-awarded by National Planning Committee, National Scientific and Technical Committee and Ministry of Finance. First Class key Technical Development Awards of China Academy of Sciences 2 time, Second Class Technical Development Awards of ministries or provinces 2 times.

Institute for Combustion Technology at Zhejiang University of National Coal Slurry Engineering Research Center can provide a complete set of technologies of retrofit of plant oil fired boilers, industrial oil fired boilers and industrial kilns to burn coal slurry, and specially designation of coal slurry fired boiler to different fields, such as energy, petrifaction, metallurgy, oil field and so on.

The institute now has 35 researchers, including 1 Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 5 professors, 5 associate professors, 8 teachers and engineers, and also 35 doctor and master graduates.
