Schools, Departments & Programs

The international college is also responsible for the enrollment of international students who wish to study in non-language programs in the 23 schools of Zhejiang University.

Schools and Departments:

Programs.

1. Undergraduate Programs:

• Length of schooling: 4-5 years.
• Entrance requirements: high school graduation certificate and course transcripts, HSK test score (level 6 for liberal arts; level 4 for other majors);

2. Master Degree Programs:

• Length of schooling: 2.5-3 years.
• Entrance requirements: completion of undergraduate studies with a bachelor's degree; letters of recommendation by two associate or full professors. For programs with courses given in Chinese, HSK scores are required (level 7 for programs of liberal arts; level 4 for other programs).

3. Doctoral Programs:

• Length of schooling: 3-4 years.
• Entrance requirements: Master's degree certificate, letters of recommendation by two associate or full professors. For programs with courses given in Chinese, HSK scores are required (level 7 for programs of liberal arts; level 4 for other programs).

4. General Program for Non-degree Studies:

• Length of schooling: 1-2 years.
• Entrance requirements:completion of 2 or more years of undergraduate or associate-degree studies in a university or college.

5. Advanced Programs for Non-degree Studies:

• Length of schooling: 0.5-2 years.
• Entrance requirements: a master-degree certificate

6. Short-term Programs:

• Length of schooling: 1 week to 3 months
• Entrance requirements: good health.

Tuition

NOTE: * An extra RMB8,000/Year shall be charged for master’s and doctoral programs whose language of instruction is English.
* Fees for general advanced study are the same as for undergraduate program. Fees for senior advanced study are the same as for the master’s degree program. Fees for researchers are the same as for the doctoral program.
* Application fee shall be pre-paid to the account below by telegraphic transfer or to the International College by postal remittance. Your application can proceed only after your money has been received. Other fees can be paid when you enroll.

Application Procedures

1. Fill in<APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO ZHEJIANG UNIVERSITY>.

2. Do physical examination according to the items listed in the form of <PHYSICAL EXAMINATION RECORD FOR FOREIGNERS>.

3. Submit the completed application form, copy of passport, 6 photos (3cm x 4cm) with white background and the physical examination record to the International College, Zhejiang University. Copies of diplomas or certificates and course transcripts are needed for degree applicants, and two letters of recommendation and a study plan are necessary for graduate-program or advanced-program applicants.

4. Time for application:

• Spring semester: September to December
• Fall semester: March to June
• Short-term program: two months in advance.

5. The Admission Notice and the form of <Visa Application for Study in China>(JW201 form or JW202 form) will be mailed to the applicant after his/her qualifications are verified.

6. Apply for a student visa or visitor visa at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in the applicant's home country. Register at the International College during the period specified in the Admission Notice.

 Additional Information

1. Hangzhou is only two hours from Shanghai by train or by bus. Major cities such as Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, Kunming and Hongkong are all within easy reach by train or air. There are also direct flights from Hangzhou to Korea, Japan, Thailand, Singapore and so on. As a modern city, Hangzhou is equipped with advanced public facilities, including convenient bus, train and airline systems, modern shopping centers and excellent medical services.

2. Hangzhou enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate, with four distinct seasons of special beauty. The average yearly temperature is 16.2 C, with 28.6 C in summer and 3.8 C in winter. The frost-free period lasts 230-260 days.

3. When international students come to Zhejiang University for the first time, they will be met at the Hangzhou Xiaoshan International airport. They will be accommodated in the international student dormitories on different campuses during their stay. The new dormitory building on Yuquan Campus is a self -contained structure with classrooms, a language lab, a reading room, a business center, a coffee bar, public kitchens, IC washing machines, IC dryers, etc. The accommodation cost on campus is USD 3-7 per day depending on room conditions in different dormitories for students who will study in Zhejiang University for 4 months.
