Ten Interuniversity Cooperation Agreements Signed between Zhejiang University and Six Universities in Hong Kong

From January 15 to 18, 2007, a delegation of Zhejiang University, led by President Wei Yang, visited six universities in Hong Kong, which are Hong Kong University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University. Meanwhile ten agreements were signed or renewed between Zhejiang University and them.

The ten cooperation agreements include: Zhejiang University - Hong Kong University Academic Cooperation Agreement; Hong Kong Chinese University - Zhejiang University Academic Exchange Agreement; Zhejiang University - Hong Kong Science and Technology University Academic Exchange Agreement; Agreement of Zhejiang University - CUHK Joint Center of Natural Drugs and Biotoxins; Cooperation Agreement of Zhejiang University - Hong Kong Polytechnic University International Innovation Product Design Center; Memorandum of Understanding on Joint Center for Advanced Photonics Research of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Zhejiang University; and student exchange agreements. In addition, Zhejiang University will have a number of cooperation programs with universities mentioned above in areas, such as software and medicine.

During the visit, President Wei Yang, Mr. Junsheng Zhang, Chairman of the Development Committee of Zhejiang University, and Deputy President Mingjiang Ni, were listening to experiences on running a university and development planning from universities in Hong Kong. After that President Wei Yang introduced characteristics of running Zhejiang University with comprehensive, research and innovation, ideas of training leadership talents with international views, and development strategy of Zhejiang University in ten years. He also gave a theme lecture at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
