APRU Annual Presidents Meeting Was Held at Zhejiang University

From May 29 to 30, 2007, the APRU (Association of Pacific Rim Universities) 11th Annual Presidents Meeting was held at Zhejiang University, where 96 presidents and delegates from member universities and leading Chinese universities participated in the meeting to communicate research achievement of frontier higher education in the world today, to discuss development strategy and innovation of higher education, and to talk interuniversity cooperation of education, research and innovation in the Asian-Pacific region. A key highlight of the Presidents Meeting was the APRU Forum on “Higher Education and Emerging Economics: Developments in Asia Pacific and International Cooperation in China”.

President Yang Wei from Zhejiang University and Vice President Brown from Sydney University attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

Vice Minister Xinsheng Zhang from Ministry of Education of China, Professor Franklin Yang Chen Ning, Distinguished Physicist, Winner of the 1957 Nobel Prize in Physics, and Professor Tu Weiming, Director of Harvard-Yenching Institute and Professor of Harvard University, gave keynote speeches, respectively.
