Four Professors Won the 2007 National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars

The evaluation for the 2007 National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars has been completed recently, and there are four young professors from Zhejiang University winning this fund while other five items of Joint Research Fund for Overseas Chinese Young Scholars have also been approved.

The four winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars are Professors Weiqiu Chen from the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Zhong Chen from the School of Medicine, Ping Wang from the School of Biomedical Engineering and Instrument Science, and Jianjun He from the School of Information Sciences and Engineering. The fund per person is RMB 2,000 thousand yuan within four years.

The five winners for Joint Research Fund for Overseas Chinese Young Scholars are Professors Fengming Song from the School of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Jianming Xu from the School of Environmental and Resource Sciences, Qiang Zheng from the School of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering, Hujun Bao from the School of Computer Science, and Limin Tong from the School of Information Sciences and Engineering. The fund is RMB 400 thousand yuan per person within four years.

According to the news, there are totally 180 excellent young scholars obtaining the fund in 2007. There are 1,650 excellent young scholars from domestic and abroad winning this fund since 1994, among them 56 scholars are with Zhejiang University.
