Executive Vice-President : Scientific Research, Experimentation Equipment, Procurement & Supervision

Professor Zhaohui Wu was born on December 18, 1966, in Wenzhou, China. He received the Ph.D. degree from Zhejiang University in 1993. From 1991 to 1993, he was with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) as a joint Ph.D. student. He was a visiting professor of the University of Arizona. He is a executive vice-president of Zhejiang University and the Director of the Institute of Computer System and Architecture. He is deputy head of the Expert Group of Modern Service Industry Project, a member of the IT Expert Committee for the National 863 program, a senior member of the IEEE, a standing council member of China Computer Federation. His research interests include intelligent system, semantic grid, and ubiquitous embedded systems. Prof. Wu has authored 4 books and more than 100 refereed papers. He is on the editorial boards of several journals, and has served as PC member for various international conferences.
 


Executive Vice-President : Yonghua Song


Professor Yonghua Song is Executive Vice-President of Zhejiang University. He is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a fellow of International Euro-Asia Academy of Sciences and Vice- President of Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE). He received his BEng and PhD from Chengdu University of Science and Technology, and China Electric Power Research Institute in 1984 and 1989 respectively. In 2002, he was awarded DSc by Brunel University for his original achievements in power system research. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Tsinghua University from June 1989 to March 1991. He then held various positions at Bristol University, Bath University and John Moores University from 1991 to 1996. In January 1997, he was appointed Professor of Power Systems at Brunel University where he was Pro-Vice Chancellor for Graduate Studies from August 2004. In January 2007, he took up a Pro-Vice Chancellorship and Professorship of Electrical Engineering at the University of Liverpoolholding Executive President position at Xi’an Jiaotong – Liverpool University in Suzhou, China. In 2009 he was appointed Assistant President for International Affairs of Tsinghua University and was Director of Chinese National Office of the Recruitment Program of Global Experts (1000 Talents Program) until December 2012. 


 

   

Vice-President : Undergraduate and Graduate Education, & Continuing Education


Professor Lai Maode was born on August 21, 1960, in Hangzhou, China. He graduated from Zhejiang Medical University with bachelor degree of medicine in December 1982, and received MS degree in Zhejiang Medical University in July 1987, and MD degree in Luebeck Medical University in Germany in December 1990. He is a professor of pathology (since 1994). He served as vice president of Zhejiang Medical University from November 1996 to August 1998. Since September 1998 he has been appointed as vice president of Zhejiang University. Professor Lai is committed to teaching and research, and he has received many awards for his research and scholarly writing. He is the author of more than one hundred articles in professional and scholarly journals. As a scientist, Professor Lai is Chairman of Chinese Society of Pathology, Vice President of Chinese Association of Pathologist, Vice Chairman of Committee of Colorectal Cancer Society, Chinese Anti-cancer Association and Vice Chairman of National Committee of Medical Education of Basic Sciences. 


                                   

 Vice-President : Personnel, Retirement & Enterprises

Professor Jian Chu was born in April 1963 at Zhejiang Province. He graduated at Department of Chemical Engineering in 1982 and received MS degree at Zhejiang University in 1984. From 1986 to 1989, he studied at Kyoto University in Japan, and completed his PhD thesis there. He received a PhD degree from Zhejiang University in early 1989. Since then, he worked for postdoctoral research at the Institute of Industrial Process Control of Zhejiang University. From 1991, he joined in Zhejiang University as a faculty member. In February 2005, he was appointed as Vice President of Zhejiang University. His research fields are control theory and its applications, R & D of computer control systems and advanced process control software. He is Director of State Key Laboratory of Industrial Control Technology, Deputy Director of National Engineering Research Center for Industrial Automation, Director of Institute of Cyber-System and Control, and Vice President of Chinese Association of Instrumentation.  


    

 Vice-President : Development and Planning, International Affair & Foreign Student Education

Wu Ping is a Professor of Plant Science at College of Life Science, Zhejiang University. He received his BS and MS from the former Zhejiang Agriculture University in 1982 and 1988. He received his PhD from the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in the Philippines in 1993 and spent one year at IRRI for his postdoctoral research before joining the Zhejiang Agriculture University in 1994. From 1996 to 1998, he conducted research work at Texas A&M as a visiting scholar. In 2000 and 2002, he spent short periods for collaboration with Cornell University and Yale University, respectively. From 1999 to 2008, he was acting as deputy dean of College of Life Science, Zhejiang University. From 2007 to 2009, he was appointed as President Assistant before he is assigned as vice President of Zhejiang University. His current work focuses on molecular physiology underlying nutrient uptake and use efficiency in rice, identification and characterization of genes that enhance the nutrient uptake and use efficiency, and root development in rice.
