JZUS's Latest News
1. Brief Visit to Princeton University, Thomson ISI, and Ei Inc., US:
In this early spring, Helen Zhang, managing editor of JZUS visited Ms. Patricia A. Gaspari-Bridges, the Director
of Princeton University Libraries (PUL), and through her friendly assistance and PUL's evaluation, JZUS was
secured entrance into the PUL's on-line list as an E-journal. As of May 1, 2004, every researcher in the world
can visit the JZUS website from the electronic resources of the PUL. And also the Biological & Life Science
Library, the Mathematics & Physics Library, and the Engineering and Computer Library of Princeton University
will place JZUS's print copy on the periodical shelf right now.
Ms. Zhang attended three conferences at the Thomson Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) in Philadelphia.
She met Dr. Eugene Garfield, Chairman Emeritus and founder of ISI, Mr. James Testa, Di-rector of Editorial
Development, Ms. Maureen Handel, Manager of Journal Selection, and Mr. Rodney Chonka, Senior Editor of ISI. Her
goal was to inform them that JZUS has been ongoing in accordance with the ISI selection criteria since the
journal started. She impressed upon them the bright future of Chinese universities due to large funding each year
from the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). In their JZUS evaluation, each of the ISI officials
expressed the opinion that JZUS was among the best journals in China; and they especially complimented the
journal's website, the good use of international standards and the international editorial board and
international peer review system. In the future, improvement of the citation record of JZUS is a crucial matter.
Ms. Zhang also visited Engineering Information Inc. (Ei) in Hoboken, New Jersey, where she met Mr. Rafael Sidi,
the Vice President. He offered helpful suggestions for the Zhejiang University journals-engineering and science
editions.
