Spotlight on the first cross-disciplinary IE lab of ZJU

X-lab, the first cross-disciplinary IE (Innovation and Entrepreneurship) lab of ZJU, has been officially put in operation since March 2022. It is managed by two undergraduates, WANG Yutong and WANG Zhenyang.

X-lab was founded based on their entrepreneurial experiences. WANG Yutong majors in accounting, and WANG Zhenyang in computer science. After several internships in various business positions, Yutong found her unsatisfied to be stuck in a rut. Similar thoughts came to Zhenyang. They hit it off immediately and founded the company Where, in which Zhenyang is responsible for technology, andYutong for marketing.

They gradually gathered their friends from different majors to join their business of robotics and application design. “Just a year ago, there were only two of us, ignorantly embarking onthepathof entrepreneurship.Never hadweexpectedateam ofhundredsof peopletocome out so quickly, ” Yutong said.

At present, X-labiscooperatingwiththeChildren's Hospitalof ZJU onaproject focusing on artificial intelligence algorithms for premature failure of congenital heart disease in children, which is putting into practical application.

On Apr. 19, Zhenyang was awarded “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Pioneer of ZJU”, and  Yutong also won the nominees award. “It wasn’t all plain sailing. Whether it’s Where or X-lab, our commitment is to make technology beneficial to people, and to gather the infinite power of youth to do something valuable and meaningful,” said Zhenyang.
