Picnic on the spur of the moment

2025-04-09

It was an incredibly busy week. That Tuesday, I had a full schedule of classes. On a sunny afternoon, after class, I was riding my motorbike back to my hostel with a friend. As we passed a lawn where someone was having a picnic, I couldnt help but marvel at the scene. The weather had been lovely lately, and I felt a pang of envy for those enjoying a leisurely picnic on the grass.

Sensing my thoughts, my friend enthusiastically suggested that we plan a picnic for Thursday. On the way back to the hostel, we discussed the idea, checked the weather forecast, reviewed our schedules, and finally settled on the plan!

On Thursday, we prepared everything in advance by pre-ordering food for the picnic. As soon as class ended, we eagerly went to the pickup lockers to collect our order before heading straight to the lawn we had carefully chosen earlier. Upon arrival, we spread out the picnic mats and arranged the food, transforming the spot into our own cozy little haven.

What followed was an unexpectedly amusing episode. We had brought along an inflatable sofa, but since it was our first time using one, we had no idea how to set it up properly. Determined to make it work, we tried all sorts of methodseach more awkward than the lastbut nothing seemed to do the trick. The entire process turned into a comedy of errors, full of clumsy movements and bursts of laughter as we watched each other struggle.

Eventually, after much trial and error, we managed to inflate the sofa. The sense of accomplishment was palpable, and we couldnt help but cheer for our small but hard-earned victory. It was a silly yet memorable moment, adding a special touch of humor to our day.

That day, the weather was perfect. The three of us ate and chatted about our assignments and daily lives. As the sun began to set, the sky transformed into a breathtakingly warm hue, and we took in the long-awaited beauty of the moment.

When night fell, we lay back on the picnic mat, gazing up at the vast expanse of stars. The stillness of the evening felt like a gift, wrapping us in its quiet magic. In that fleeting moment of contentment, I found myself wishingalmost greedilythat time would slow down, just a little longer, just a little more, so we could hold on to this perfect memory a bit longer.
