Attend school football match:Gain both health and friendship

Life at Zhejiang University is full of energy and variety. While students focus on their studies during class, there’s also a rich array of extracurricular sports activities. Each sport hosts different events throughout the year. For instance, football features three major competitions every academic year:

I. Campus Freshmen Cup Football match:

Held during the autumn semester (from September to early October), this competition divides freshmen from different majors into four teams based on their dormitories: Danqing, Lantian, Yunfeng, and Zhu Kezhen Colleges. This format not only sparks new students’ interest in football but also helps identify potential new players.

II.  cc98 Campus Football Tournament:

Held in the winter semester (from early October to the end of December), students from various majors and grades are free to form teams and participate. Teams compete in two formats: eight-player and eleven-player matches, battling to win the championship.

III. Sanhao Cup Campus Football Tournament:

Held during the spring and summer semester (from April to June), students from different grades within the same major are free to form teams to compete in the eleven-player format. This competition is highly competitive every year and represents the highest level of football on campus.

In 2023, I played for a team called the “Sandun Town Rangers,” which consisted of 21 undergraduates, master’s, and doctoral students from various majors. I was the right winger, and I scored a goal in the final, helping our team win the championship of the “cc98” campus football tournament. In my opinion, Zhejiang University’s football matches not only provide a platform for students to nurture their passion for the sport and strengthen their determination and character, but also break down barriers between different majors and grades. The diverse teams that form become a home for our hearts. Whether opponents or teammates, the friendships forged through competition connect us deeply—both on and off the field. Through football, I’ve gained joy from sports as well as many great mentors and wise friends, adding rich and meaningful colors to my university life.
