Volunteer experience in Liangzhu Museum

In my studies and life at Zhejiang University, volunteering has become a way for me to unwind. Through volunteering, I experience the joy of offering free services to others. Among all my volunteering experiences, my favorite has been the one at Liangzhu Museum.

At Liangzhu Museum, the teachers first provide us with volunteer training. As college student volunteers, we have passed the assessments for the Smile Post and Explanation Post. Additionally, as a student of the School of Foreign Languages at Zhejiang University, I am required to pass the assessment for the bilingual Explanation Post in both Chinese and English.

This is a very challenging task for me. I not only need to become familiar with the layout, content, and routes of the three exhibition halls at Liangzhu, but I also need to present the information in an engaging and lively way so that visitors can enjoy the explanations while learning more about Liangzhu’s cultural heritage. Achieving this requires continuous practice—truly living up to the saying, “Practice makes perfect.”

Fortunately, I successfully passed the assessment and began my post. It was my first time guiding visitors through the three exhibition halls of Liangzhu, and I felt very excited. I hoped to deliver my explanations in a richer and more engaging way, presenting a welcoming, open, and enthusiastic image of Liangzhu Museum to everyone. After the tour, I was delighted to receive positive feedback from the visitors.

This experience has further strengthened my desire to use my skills and English proficiency to promote China’s rich traditional culture. Becoming a volunteer guide at Liangzhu Museum is just a small step—I hope to step into a bigger world, embrace the future, and connect with people globally. At the same time, I firmly believe that helping others is also a way of helping myself, and I am determined to continue my volunteer activities!
