First time participating in ZJU New Year Gala

2026-04-08

This year marked my very first time attending the ZJU New Year Gala, and it turned out to be far more impressive than I had imagined. Every year, Zhejiang University transforms its playground into a grand celebration venue, complete with a massive stage, professional lighting systems, high-quality sound equipment, and even a live broadcast that allows people outside the campus to join the excitement. I had heard many seniors talk about it before, but actually being there made me realize how special this event truly is.

I went with a few close friends, and we made sure to arrive early so we could get a good spot and fully experience the atmosphere. As soon as we stepped onto the field, we were surrounded by a lively, festive vibe—students chatting in groups, music playing in the background, and the stage shining brightly under colorful lights. The entire playground felt completely transformed, almost like a mini music festival rather than a typical university event.

When the performances began, the energy of the crowd rose instantly. There were various acts, including singing, dancing, band performances, and even creative shows that incorporated storytelling and visual effects. What impressed me most was that all the performers were students. Even so, their performances were incredibly professional and full of passion. It was inspiring to see how much effort and talent had gone into preparing for this night.

One of the most unforgettable moments was when everyone turned on their phone flashlights and waved them in the air. The entire venue was filled with a sea of lights, creating a warm and magical scene. Standing there with my friends—laughing, singing along, and simply enjoying the moment—I felt a deep sense of connection, not only with them but also with the entire ZJU community.

Looking back, the ZJU New Year Gala was much more than just an entertainment event. It was a celebration of youth, creativity, and shared memories. It brought people together and created an atmosphere that was both exciting and heartwarming. I’m truly glad that I finally got to experience it in person this year.
