On March 27, Zhejiang University signed a framework agreement on comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Alibaba Group, marking that both sides will open a new chapter for cooperation in the new era and run an upgraded version of interconnected development.
According to the agreement, Zhejiang University and Alibaba Group will abide by the principles of “promoting education, talent cultivation, entrepreneurship and development in a collaborative manner, advocating mutual benefits and common interests, and complementing each other with respective strengths”, put in place the construction of Alibaba-Zhejiang University Joint Institute of Frontier Technologies, expand joint research work in such domains as new infrastructure, smart marine sciences, micro-electronic techniques, public health and healthcare, new economic modes and forward-looking infrastructure, and enhance innovative cooperationin talent cultivation and construction of digitalized campuses.

The ecology-based, cross-border and global-oriented cooperation is not only driven by our internal demand for transcendence but also a passport to promoting the quality of a famous city. In this new phase of partnership, we should make every endeavor to accomplish existing projects with flying colors and build the two ‘golden business cards’ of Alibaba and ZJUinto a ‘diamond business card’; we should align ourselves with national strategies, expand cooperation fields, and create new highlights in interconnected development; we should continue to be open to the world and contribute Chinese wisdom and strength to building a community with a shared future for mankind by capitalizing on our respective assets; and we should work together to create a more outstanding mode of cooperation and play a vital role in today’s world marked by profound change and China’s mission of national rejuvenation,”said WU Zhaohui, president of Zhejiang University.
