The 1st Zhejiang University Urban and Rural Development Forum was held on June 27. At the forum, Peter G. Rowe, former Dean of the Graduate School of Design at Harvard, was appointed as Qiushi Chair Professor of Zhejiang University.
Peter G. Rowe is the Raymond Garbe Professor of Architecture and Urban Design and University Distinguished Service Professor at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, where he has taught since 1985. His research and consulting are extensive, diverse and international in scope, including subjects dealing with matters of cultural interpretation and design, as well as the relationship of urban form to issues of economic development, historic conservation, housing provision and resource sustainability. His joining will definitely help promote the domestic and international influence of Zhejiang University in the discipline of urban design and planning.
Peter G. Rowe was also appointed as an honorary director of the Committee of Professors in the discipline of architecture and urban planning and a counselor for the Disciplinary Development Committee of Architecture and Urban Planning at Zhejiang University.
