ZJU's Eight Disciplines Among Top 0.1% on ESI Ranking List

The latest Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database reveals that Zhejiang University comes in 130th place globally and ranks 4th in China on the top university ranking list by ESI papers. Among the total 22 specific fields of research, 18 disciplines of ZJU have entered the global top 1%. Eight disciplines of ZJU have made it through to the dazzling global top 0.1% and five disciplines are among global top 50 - the results make ZJU a front-runner among universities on Chinese mainland. 

Notably, ZJU’s discipline of Computer Science has made a historic breakthrough by ranking 30th globally. For the first time, this discipline has entered the global top 0.1%, second only to the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University on Chinese mainland.

Based on journal article publication counts and citation data from the Web of Science database, ESI has been recognized as a comprehensive compilation of science performance statistics and science trends data. It is available as a 10-year rolling file that is updated every two months.

The 22 searchable fields of research include: the agricultural sciences, biology and biochemistry, clinical medicine, chemistry, computer science, economics and business, environment & ecology, immunology, mathematics, microbiology, molecular biology & genetics, neuroscience & behavior, pharmacology & toxicology, physics, plant and animal science, psychiatry & psychology, etc.
