Collaboration Brings Buddhist Literature to Your Fingertips

International collaborations between the Buddhist Resource and Research Center at Zhejiang University and the Buddhist Digital Resource Center (BDRC) in Massachusetts, USA have enabled mobile access to thousands of Buddhist titles.

BDRC Lib, a mobile application jointly developed by ZJU and BDRC, is now available for download on the App Store. The application provides access to the complete BDRC Library operating online. Users can quickly search through works, texts, and authors indexed in the BDRC library, view meta-data associated with each of these records and view the scanned copies.

This transnational cooperation aims to apply the transformative power of technology to advance the preservation and accessibility of Buddhist literature.

Headed by Professor HE Huanhuan, the Buddhist Resource and Research Center at Zhejiang University was established in Hangzhou in March 2016. The center is China’s first institute specializing in the preservation, synthesis and research of Buddhist resources. The center serves as an operational hub for BDRC in Hangzhou, linking BDRC to the many existing Buddhist institutions and communities in and around the city. 

BDRC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to seeking out, preserving, organizing, and disseminating Buddhist literature. Joining digital technology with scholarship, BDRC ensures that the ancient wisdom and cultural treasures of the Buddhist literary tradition are not lost, but are made available for future generations.
