2018-05-28

Recently, Zhejiang University’s State Key Laboratory of Computer Aided Design and Computer Graphics (CAD & CG) joined hands with Qianjiang Evening News to launch the “Sci-tech Open Week” for the general public.

The Lab is primarily focused on computer aided design, graphical and visual algorithms, virtual reality and augmented reality, media algorithms and visual analysis. It engages in a series of original and cutting-edge research to meet major demands in China and gains tremendous international fame in the domain of graphics.

It is the first time that the Lab has organized such a large-scale activity for the public. On May 19, approximately 200 kids and parents had a fantastic time in the Lab, intrigued by a string of extraordinary novelties.

During the “Sci-tech Open Week”, the College of Control Science and Engineering showcased three supreme and dazzling achievements: Jueying—a quadruped robot dog, Pipe Doctor—a smart leakage monitoring device, and a drone with multiple wings.

This activity is helpful to promote the scientific spirit and popularize such scientific knowledge as graphics, virtual reality and augmented reality.

The activity also enables the public to acquire a basic knowledge of state key laboratories and keeps them informed about the latest major scientific achievements, thereby expanding its influence and obtaining public support.
