The 18th Biennial IEEE Conference on Electromagnetic Field Computation (CEFC 2018) kicked off in Hangzhou on Oct. 29. More than 500 scholars and engineers gathered at the grand academic feast to exchange views on the subject "Electromagnetics Computation and Application, Interaction between Electromagnetic Field and Substance".

On behalf of Zhejiang University, Prof. SHENG Kuang, dean of the College of Electrical Engineering extended his warm welcome to all the academic delegates. “Computational Electromagnetics has been widely applied in Electrical Engineering and many other interdisciplinary fields,” said SHENG. “Papers presented in this conference will demonstrate the most recent achievements in the modelling and simulation in electromagnetic field, which will provide a great platform for scholars and engineers all over the world to present their recent research works, exchange ideas and establish and enhance friendships.”

“It’s the first time that CEFC has been held in China, which is one of the most important scientific and technical conferences in computational electromagnetics all around the world,” said Prof. YANG Qingxin, director-general of China Electrotechnical Society and president of Tianjin University of Technology.

Prof. Yves Marechal, president of IEEE CEFC International Steering Committee pointed out that the IEEE CEFC plays an important role in support of academic research and the education reserve of youth talents in related fields.

Prof. Osama A. Mohammed, president of CEFC Editorial Committee introduced the proceedings of the conference. He emphasized that 30% of the articles in this CEFC meeting were published in the IEEE Magnetics Journal, and the remaining articles were published in the IEEE Xplore database (as Journal Paper) as Proceedings.

The CEFC International Conference was co-organized by the IEEE Magnetic Society, the China Electrotechnical Society, and the China Electrical Engineering Society, and was hosted by Zhejiang University.

Hosted by Zhejiang University this year, the conference attracted researchers from more than 30 countries and regions including South Korea, Singapore, Australia, the United States, Canada, Brazil, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. After a rigorous evaluation process carried out by authoritative experts in the field, a total of 930 papers, with 11 special reports and 29 poster reports, were selected from more than 1500 abstract papers.
