2019-03-21

On the afternoon of March 14, Zhejiang University and Merck Group signed an MOU for the establishment of CRISPR Core Partnership.

LUO Jianhong, Vice President of Zhejiang University, and Steve Vermant, Managing Director of Merck China Life Sciences, signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides. Merck bestowed upon Zhejiang University the plaque of “Zhejiang University-Merck CRISPR Core Partnership”.

“Zhejiang University attaches immense importance to academic research and scientific innovation. We hope that ZJU research teams and professors will cooperate with top gene-editing experts to promote the construction and development of relevant disciplines and create a new paradigm of partnership between a leading university and a well-renowned company,” said LUO Jianhong.

“This partnership acts as a bridge between Zhejiang University and Merck. We hope that cooperation with Zhejiang University will enable Merck products to satisfy the demands for cutting-edge scientific research and push forward the development of life sciences,” said Steve Vermant.

Merck’s CRISPR Core Partnership Program, launched in 2014, is the world’s first platform for CRISPR experts in the field of life sciences. Researchers are entitled to Merck’s exclusive CRISPR reagents and other innovative products.
