2019 SOM Alumni Reunion: Share and rebond

2019-05-28

In celebration of the 122nd anniversary of the University, ZJU School of Management (SOM) held various activities for its alumni. On May 18, approximately 150 alumni gathered at the Zijingang Campus for the 2019 SOM Alumni Reunion. Reflecting on their years as a student at ZJU, alumni reconnected with their old classmates and made new friends during the event.

The day kicked off with a garden party. Alumni got to learn about the new changes of the University while reminiscing the good times as students. The reunion ceremony was held at the SOM Building in the afternoon. Dean WEI Jiang, Senior Associate Dean ZHU Yuan, Associate Dean WU Weijin, and faculty and staff of the School attended the ceremony. In his welcome speech, Dean WEI said that SOM will always be the home to its alumni. He also shared his love for the School: “No matter where I am, I'm always all ears when the name of our university or our school is mentioned.”

Alumni representatives also shared their SOM stories. I thank the School for providing such a great opportunity for us to rebond, said HU Honghao, BBA'05. Some of my classmates have made great achievements in their career; some are now starting their own businesses. Back then we were some ignorant youngsters. Teachers of the School helped us understand what are responsibility, honor and discipline. We received the best education here. I’m grateful.

“The excellent performance of my classmates in the fields of business, politics, and entrepreneurship just reflects our university spirit. The university motto 'seeking truth and pursuing innovation' has exert a profound influence on my character, said FANG Bin, BBA'99. Meanwhile, FANG hoped that all SOMers can work diligently while taking care of their family.

YAO Zheng, an alumnus and current faculty member of SOM, believed the development of the School is closely related to changes of the country. He used “Struggle, Independence, Vitality” as key words to describe university life back in the 1980s. 'Many thanks for the support and the platform SOM provided for my career development,' said YAO.
