RoboCup 2019—an international competition showcasing the cutting edge of robotics technology—was held in Sydney, Australia, on July 7. Zhejiang University clinched the robot soccer championship of the world after defeating German team ER-Force 1-0. It is the fourth time that Zhejiang University has claimed the top prize.
RoboCup 2019 includes five categories, the Soccer League, the Industrial-Logistics League, the Rescue-Robot League, the Home League and the Junior League.
“Our team has less than 20 members from different majors, including computer science, mechanical engineering and automation. All robots are designed all by ourselves, from machinery, electro circuits, software to calculation,” said team leader HUANG Zheyuan.
Inaugurated in Japan in 1997, the RoboCup features numerous divisions for both wheeled and legged robots ranging in a variety of different sizes. This year, the competition attracted over 2,000 participants from more than 40 countries.
