Dialogue@ZJU: With international faculty members and students on the trip to Anji

2021-08-11

[Message from the editor: Recently, School of International Studies (SIS) organized a field trip to Anji, a tranquil county in east China’s Zhejiang Province. In an interview, international faculty members and students from SIS shared with us what Anji is like in their eyes.]

Dr. Salvador Santa Puche, Spain

“I know that Yucun Village in Anji had been heavily polluted. However, I was really amazed in this trip that its environment was restored vigorously. So, it was a great surprise to see the new life of Anji’s ecological environment. I feel really happy from the bottom of my heart. Human progress is in need of economic development, but economy should not be developed at the cost of environment. The village really sets a good example for us. It proves to us economic development does not conflict with environmental development. We need such beautiful and attractive greenery.”

Prof. Gwendonila Jeanne C. Bouvier, Belgium

“Thank you very much for the trip today. I thought that it was lovely. I’ve learned a lot about tea and bamboo and some of the fantastic initiatives that have been set up by the Party. We are just very lucky that we could have this experience today.”

Ms. Fenesan Laura, Romania

“I understand with such an activity the stories behind China’s new rural development. I am impressed by China’s development and really admire it very much. I think the development models of Yucun Village and Lujiacun Village are actually a wonderful lecture to the whole world. So I hope more areas in China as well as more countries can learn such a development model from China because it not only brings much convenience for people’s life, but also protects beautiful natural ecology in a new way of breakthrough.”
