ZJU students’ work selected as official poster of Hangzhou Asian Games

2022-04-13

On April 1, the organizing committee of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 unveiled official posters for the Asian Games and the Asian Para Games, one of which is designed by the team led by GUO Junyan, a sophomore at the Zhejiang University School of Medicine.

The poster entitled “Hello Future” takes the form of a GIF. “This poster features a smart and futuristic sense of the Asian Games through the lens of spectators rather than athletes. Spectators are able to shift angles with the help of AR and VR technologies and watch a game from multiple perspectives. Moreover, they can capture the movement track of an athlete so as to understand judging criteria better,” said GUO Junyan.

GUO Junyan drew much inspiration from the tenets of the “green, smart, frugal and civilized” Asian Games and Hangzhou’s thriving digital economy. “Hello Future” focuses on smartness while VR and AR technologies in the poster are inspired by Hangzhou’s digital economy. “The slogan of the Hangzhou Asian Games is ‘Heart to Heart, @Future’, so our poster embodies the futuristic idea that intelligence can bring in its wake new things,” GUO Junyan said.

“We hope that this poster can show the world the innovative design of Chinese university students so that the ‘Smart Asian Games’ can be felt by more people. Meanwhile, we feel that we are making a modest contribution to publicizing a digital Hangzhou, thereby letting more people know about the development Hangzhou’s digital economy and smart life,” GUO Junyan said.

The organizing committee of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 started to collect posters for the Asian Games globally on July 28, 2021. The total selection procedure took 94 days. A total of 1,789 posters, designed by world-renowned designers and rising artists both at home and abroad, were submitted to the organizing committee.
