Introduction of the speaker:

Prof. Alain Peyraube is currently Honorary Director of the French National Research Center (CNRS), Chair Professor of the French Higher School of Social Sciences (EHESS), Member of the Academia Europaea, and founding member of the Research Leadership Group of the European Research Council. He has served as President of the International Society of Chinese Language, President of the European Chinese Language Association, and as an adjunct professor at Cornell University, University of California, Santa Barbara, Hong Kong Baptist University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and other world-renowned universities.
His research is conducted in the framework of combining functional/cognitive linguistics and typology, with his main research interests in Chinese historical syntax and linguistic typology. He has published five monographs and over 200 papers. In recognition of his academic contributions and his contribution to Sino-French friendship, he was awarded the French Order of Merit in 2018 and the Officer of the Order of Merit in 2019.
