ZJU President MA Yanming meets with delegation of EU envoys

On November 24, Michael Christensen, Ambassador of Denmark to China, led a delegation of envoys from 17 European Union member states, including Germany, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, and Portugal, on a visit to Zhejiang University (ZJU). The delegation was received by President MA Yanming.

MA Yanming extended a warm welcome to Michael Christensen and the visiting envoys. He introduced ZJU’s recent development and distinctive features, and reviewed the positive progress ZJU has achieved in student exchanges and scientific research cooperation with EU member states. He highlighted ZJU’s strong commitment to cooperating with Europe and expressed the university’s hope to further deepen collaboration with EU universities in education, science and technology, and talent development. He added that ZJU looks forward to expanding people-to-people and cultural exchanges, strengthening student mobility, and achieving more substantive outcomes through practical collaboration.

Michael Christensen spoke highly of the extensive and fruitful cooperation between ZJU and EU universities, and congratulated the univeristy on its achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship. He expressed keen interest in gaining deeper insight into ZJU’s experience and practices in cultivating innovative talent and developing cutting-edge technologies. The ambassadors present agreed that China–EU cooperation in higher education is of great significance, and voiced their support for sustained collaboration between universities on both sides to jointly explore future opportunities.

During the visit, the two sides held a symposium on innovation and entrepreneurship. Professor WU Xiaobo from the School of Management, YANG Le, Assistant to the President of SUPCON Technology Co., Ltd., and ZHANG Yatao, Director of European Sales at DEEP Robotics, delivered keynote presentations. The delegation also toured the Student Innovation Practice Base for Robotics and Intelligent Equipment, and met with EU students currently studying at ZJU.
