On April 24, a delegation led by Michael Hoch, Rector of the University of Bonn, visited Zhejiang University. MA Yanming, President of Zhejiang University, met with the guests. The two sides held discussions on advancing practical cooperation and signed a university-level memorandum of understanding.

MA Yanming extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced Zhejiang University’s recent development. He noted that Zhejiang University places strong emphasis on building a global partnership network. Taking the signing of the university-level agreement as a new starting point, he expressed hope that the two universities would carry out substantive cooperation in areas such as talent cultivation, disciplinary development, and scientific research through platforms such as the Sino-Germany Forum on Sustainable Development, and jointly contribute to higher education exchange between China and Germany.
Michael Hoch spoke highly of Zhejiang University’s achievements in disciplinary development, interdisciplinary innovation, and global engagement. He introduced the University of Bonn’s Clusters of Excellence and noted that the two universities enjoy broad prospects for collaboration in fields such as basic sciences, life sciences, and the humanities and social sciences. He also expressed hope that both sides would expand personnel mobility and work together to cultivate more outstanding young talent.
During the meeting, MA Yanming and Michael Hoch signed a university-level memorandum of understanding on behalf of the two institutions, formally establishing a partnership.

During the visit, the delegation toured the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, the Center for Evolutionary and Organismal Biology, and Liangzhu Laboratory. They also held discussions with representatives from the School of International Studies and the School of Philosophy, among others.
