New PIEGL students start their journey at ZJU

2018-10-05

“PIEGL is a program that has so much to offer for people like me. It is a program right at the centre of current business global trends of innovation and entrepreneurship. I hope to learn and gain knowledge from the professors and especially my fellow classmates,” said Jo-Anne Zuze from Zimbabwe, one of the new program participants on the welcome ceremony.

Jointly developed by ZJU’s International Campus and School of Management, the Program in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Global Leadership (PIEGL) is a two-year master’s degree program taught in English. It aims to recruit people who are interested in innovation and entrepreneurship from all over the world, and help them “understand the Chinese development story as well as create global business knowledge together”.

The first PIEGL cohort, 33 students admitted to the program last year, has not only enjoyed opportunities to dialogue with the most influential entrepreneurs and executives from famous Chinese companies, but also made great achievements themselves as innovative problem-solvers. On Sept. 13, 28 new PIEGL students from 23 different countries were warmly welcomed on the program opening ceremony on Zijingang Campus. Later on Sept. 21, they visited the International Campus in Haining and had a welcome ceremony there.

During the welcome ceremony, Prof. BEN Shenglin from the School of Management encouraged the students to actively explore Chinese culture, make time for self-reflection while learning, and build a global platform for innovation and entrepreneurship cooperation.
