Speaker:Yang Yunan (ETH Zurich)Avenue: Online Tencent Meeting ID: 153-737-210 153 737 210Abstract: Many models in machine learning and PDE-based inverse problems exhibit intrinsic spectral properties, which have been used to explain the generalization capacity and the ill-posedness of such problems. In this talk, we discuss weighted training for computational learning and inversion with noisy data. The highlight of the proposed framework is that we allow weighting in both the parameter space and the data space. The weighting scheme encodes both a priori knowledge of the object to be learned and a strategy to weight the contribution of training data in the loss function. We demonstrate that appropriate weighting from prior knowledge can improve the generalization capability of the learned model in both machine learning and PDE-based inverse problems.

Speaker: Dr. Lifan GUAN (Westlake University) Venue: 101, Building 2, Haina Court Abstract:The subject of homogeneous dynamics focuses on the study of dynamical properties of Lie subgroups acting on finite volume quotient of (mainly semisimple) Lie groups. As such, homogeneous dynamics is closely related to many different areas in mathematics. In particular, some problems in number theory can be reformulated and studied via homogeneous dynamics. In this talk, we will take a tour of no-dense orbits in homogeneous spaces and related problems in number theory. We will first explain the relationship and then show how it is used to solve problems in number theory. Finally, we will discuss some recent developments.

Speaker: XIA Chao (Xiamen University)Venue: Tencent Conference ID: 880-635-181 Password: 1025Abstract: In this talk, we study stability of capillary CMC hypersurfaces. We prove that a capillary CMC hypersurface in a geodesic ball in space forms or a horoball in hyperbolic space is stable if and only if it is umbilical. In particular, the relationship between the stability problem and the estimate for the second Robin eigenvalue of the Jacobi operator will be mentioned. This is based on the joint work with Jinyu Guo and Guofang Wang.Introduction of the speaker: XIA Chao, Professor and Doctoral Director of Xiamen University, Fujian Province Minjiang Scholar. His main research area is geometric analysis and nonlinear partial differential equations. He has made a series of influential works in related fields, and his results have been published in top international journals such as J. Differential Geom., Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal., Adv. Math., Math. Ann.,Trans. AMS, etc.
