Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) will host the International Conference on Technology and Design (ICTD) 2022 in SUTD campus from 30 May to 1 June, 2022. The theme of ICTD 2022 is A More Sustainable and Happier World by Technology and Design. Prestigious academics, policy makers, researchers and industry practitioners will be invited to share their insightful opinions on various topics relating to Technology and Design in six sub-themes (please refer to the programme structure below).ICTD is a joint effort between SUTD and Zhejiang University (ZJU). The objective of ICTD is to congregate world renowned higher education institutions and leading industry organizations to discuss the current situation, challenges and advancements relating to the rapid emergence and fusion of technology and design. Abstract:With successful elimination of the extreme poverty by the end of 2020, China aims to solve the problem of unbalanced development and narrow the gap between urban and rural areas in the new development era. An ultimate goal as outlined in the 14th five year plan is to march towards common prosperity for all through rural vitalization and a new pattern of integrated urban-rural development. In June 2021, the Chinese government issued Opinions on Supporting Zhejiang’s High-quality Development and Construction of Common Prosperity Demonstration Zone. Zhejiang takes on the critical mission of exploring paths, accumulating experience and providing demonstration in common prosperity. Abstract:At the end of 2020, the German government announced a massive €4 billion budget to support research projects addressing global warming and sustainability under its FONA (Forschung für Nachhaltigkeit) strategy over the coming five years. China’s new five-year plan, released this March, confirms the country’s commitment to sustainability including peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. Covid-19 has demonstrated that scientific collaboration plays a critical role in tackling complex challenges. In the same vein, environmental problems require a diversity of solutions based on scientific insights.
