ZJU Clinches 3 Gold Medals in 2nd "Internet Plus" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest for College Students

The 2nd edition of China’s “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest for College Students took place on October 12-15 at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan. A total of 120 teams, including 4 teams from Zhejiang University, got through to the final and competed for 30 gold medals. 3 projects designed by Zhejiang University, including the air faucet system, wearable devices based on EEG detection and the BaaS platform, won gold medals, and 1 project―the UMA smart bicycle―won a silver medal. Meanwhile, the air faucet system also received the Best Innovative Award.

On the afternoon of October 15, Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with participants and judges. She called for further efforts to boost innovation and entrepreneurship education in universities and stressed that higher education should be reformed to enhance innovation and entrepreneurship spirits, abilities and practices among college students. She also urged Chinese universities to cooperate with enterprises and encourage social capital in education and talent training to adapt to the evolving economic and technological climate.
