Exchange Students

Zhejiang University offers international students rich opportunities to study as degree-seeking students or exchange students. The Student Exchange Program attracts students from our partner universities who wish to study at ZJU for one or two semesters and transfer credits to their home institutions. To be an exchange student, candidates must be officially nominated by their home institutions and pay the tuition fee to their home institutions. On-campus housing is provided.

Fact Sheet and Application Instructions for University-Wide Student Exchange Program
1. Orientation

Orientation week is at the beginning of each new semester, right after the date of registration. Exchange students are strongly advised to take part in the orientation as they will need to register for the courses during the orientation.

3. Credit system

Three grade system are used simultaneously in Zhejiang University, specially as follows: 

1. The percentage system: Above 60 is passing, 100 is full mark;

2. Five degree grading: Excellence (A), Good (B), Fair (C), Passing (D), Failed (E).

3. Two degree grading: Passing (P), Failed (F).

1 credit at ZJU is equivalent to 16 teaching hours at ZJU. 

· Full-degree undergraduate students at ZJU are required to get a minimum of 15 credits per semester and a total of 169 credits during their 4-5 years study program.

· Full-degree graduate students at ZJU are required to get a total of 26 credits during their 2-2.5 years study program.

· Full-degree PhD students at ZJU are required to get a total of 14 credits during their 3-3.5 years study program.

Currently we do not have any credit requirements for exchange students. The transcripts for exchange students will be issued at the end of each semester and be sent to the home university coordinators.

7. Insurance

According to the regulations of Ministry of Education, international students studying in China must purchase comprehensive medical insurance in mainland of China as a necessary requirement for their registration for the new semester. The insurance contains accidental injury medical treatment, outpatient medical treatment, inpatient medical treatment, death/disability insurance liability.

8. Accommodation

Accommodation will be automatically reserved but students still need to go through online booking procedures as per further notice released on the webpage of ZJU International College.

Exchange students will be arranged to stay on or near the university campus where their specialty College/Department is located. Usually students can check in within three days before registration.

Please prepare 800 RMB for refundable room deposit upon lodging in.

10. Living expenses

Around 2000 RMB per person per month exclusive of accommodation.
