Qizhen Racing Team Ranks 2nd in Marketing at 2016 FSC

The 7th edition of the Formula Student China (FSC) was held on October 11-15 in Xiangyang City, Hubei Province. The Qizhen Racing Team from Zhejiang University came in at No. 2 in the marketing category.

FSC is a comprehensive engineering competition where college students design, build, and race a small-scale formula-style racing car. A total of 79 racing teams from Zhejiang University, Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Tianjin University and Jilin University, etc., participated in this competition. They competed in 8 categories, including car designing, cost analysis, marketing report, linear acceleration, Figure-8 circling, high-speed obstacle avoidance, endurance racing and fuel efficiency.

In the FSC 2016 series, the Qizhen Racing Team made major breakthroughs in 3 static categories, particularly in the marketing section in which it clinched the 2nd place. Moreover, it also performed spectacularly in the linear acceleration category, finishing the race in 4.23 seconds.

It is noteworthy that the Qizhen Racing Team incorporated the notion of lightweight design into every detail. While ensuring reliability, the team reduced the weight of the racing car by 15 kilograms via optimized designing and meticulous manufacturing. What’s more, the team also contrived a sophisticated cooling system for electrical pumps and a bilateral convertible tail wing system, renovated the gearbox of the engine, and adopted the fatigue simulation approach by means of Abaqus and Femfat.
