Chen Xiaoying Donates 40 Million Yuan to Zhejiang University

“We hope that outstanding students are willing to do their major in medicine. With our determined and persistent efforts, the best medical student will turn into the best doctor.” On November 28, Ms. Chen Xiaoying, President of Shentong Express, made a donation of 40 million yuan to Zhejiang University to set up the “Chen Xiaoying Medical Education and Teaching Foundation”.

As one of the founders of Shentong Express, Ms. Chen has been dedicated to the construction and development of national brands over the past 20 years. At present, Shentong Express has become one of the leading enterprises in the domain of distribution in China. As an eminent entrepreneur, Ms. Chen has long been passionate about public welfare causes.

At the donation ceremony, Ren Shaobo, Executive Vice President of Zhejiang University paid high tribute to Ms. Chen’s commitment to education and teaching and her strong sense of social responsibility. “This foundation manifests itself in terms of talent cultivation and it will benefit a wide range of people,” said Ren Shaobo, “I believe it will become the inherent motive for the development of medical education and teaching and lay a solid foundation for the comprehensive promotion of the educational asset, social reputation and brand impact of medical education in our university.”

The foundation includes 7 categories: Chen Xiaoying Medical Education Award, Chen Xiaoying Medical Teaching Achievement Award, Chen Xiaoying Medical Textbook Award, Chen Xiaoying Medical Freshman Scholarship, Chen Xiaoying Exchange Program Scholarship, Chen Xiaoying Medical Competition Award and Special Funds for National and International Medical Contests. It aims at attracting top students to pursue their career in the School of Medicine, motivating faculty and students alike to put in more efforts in medical education and cultivating outstanding students into elite doctors.
