Ministry of Education Honors Wang Ziqiang National Outstanding Teacher

On the morning of December 4, the Ministry of Education named Wang Ziqiang the 2016 National Outstanding Teacher in recognition of his distinguished accomplishments.

Wang Ziqiang is a professor of the College of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Director of the Agricultural Technology Extension Station and Party Chief of the Postgraduate Division of the College of Agriculture and Biotechnology. He has been dedicated to teaching and academic research in his career. Over the past 30 years, he has published 50-plus papers and authored 6 textbooks. He has also carried out several projects sponsored by the National Ministry of Agriculture and the Provincial Bureau of Science and Technology. In 2005, he went to Taishun County, an outlying and remote mountainous area in Zhejiang Province. There he made his generous contributions as a scientific and technological special commissioner. Over the past 11 years, he has introduced 129 new varieties to Taishun and helped local farmers increase their incomes, thus earning a well-deserved reputation as a person with the Midas touch.

The Ministry of Education honored Wang Ziqiang for his sublime dedication and his unswerving commitment to poverty relief in the countryside. Wang was recognized as a perfect incarnation of a teacher, a CPC member and a special commissioner. Teachers and educators should regard him as a role model and learn his noble virtue in research and teaching, his passionate belief in serving the people as well as his unselfish devotion in his work in mountainous areas.
