At the IFAMA’s Fall 2016 Board Meeting in Munich, Prof. Wei Baolong became a newly-elected member on the Board of Directors of the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA). He has thus become the first Chinese scholar to serve on IFAMA’s Board of Directors over the past 23 years.
IFAMA is an international management organization that brings together current and future business, academic, and government leaders along with other industry stakeholders to improve the strategic focus, transparency, sustainability, and responsiveness of the global food and agribusiness system. It has members in more than 50 countries. It is an effective worldwide networking organization acting as a bridge between the agribusiness industry, researchers, educators, government, consumer groups and non-governmental organizations. Its primary activities include the publication of a top-ranked journal, the International Food and Agribusiness Management Review (IFAMR) a top-ranked journal published 6 times a year and the IFAMA Annual World Conference, which features a Student Case Competition, Academic Symposium and World Forum where industry, scholars and students gather to discuss seminal issues in food and agribusiness management.
Prof. Wei Baolong has long engaged in teaching and research in the domains of agricultural and food policy, risk management of agricultural produce prices and international trade of agricultural produce. Between 2003 and 2004, he was commissioned by Federal Agricultural Organization to carry out research into food quality and safety issues in the fresh produce production and marketing chain in China. He has also undertaken a series of groundbreaking projects.
Prof. Wei’s election will be of enormous value to enhancing cooperation between China’s academic community in food and agribusiness management and IFAMA, promoting the internationalization of China’s research in food and agribusiness management, and expanding opportunities for China’s food and agricultural enterprises to make it to the international stage.
