School of Medicine Holds 2nd Scientific Photography Contest

On the afternoon of January 12, the Public Technology Platform of the School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, announced the winners of the 2nd edition of the Scientific Photography Contest.

The contest aimed at cultivating researchers’ innovation and inspiring them to seek fun, develop an artistic feel, foster creative thinking and explore the beauty of the micro world. It was themed on “Innovating, Invigorating and Sharing”, which fitted in with the spirit of the G20 Summit perfectly.

Appointment with the Sun, taken by Niu Xueyuan, won the first prize. It was developed under a confocal laser scanning microscope after Niu got nervous tissue from a genetically modified rat and dyed it with immunofluorescent stain. The photo was a fusion of scientific and aesthetic beauty with delicate texture and bright color.
