On April 29, the 2017 Sino-US Innovation & Entrepreneurship was co-hosted by Zhejiang University and the Plug and Play Tech Center―a global innovation platform. A galaxy of incubators, entrepreneurs and investors from China and the United States gathered to carry out an in-depth discussion over innovation and entrepreneurship in both countries. Zheng Qiang, Party Chief of Zhejiang University, and Rahim Amidi, founder of the Plug and Play Tech Center, delivered welcome speeches. ZJU’s School of Management and the Plug and Play Tech Center signed a cooperation agreement.

Zheng Qiang said that the innovation and entrepreneurship education at ZJU takes the lead in Zhejiang Province, even in the entire Yangtze River Delta and the whole country. Students are able to adopt a global approach to innovation and entrepreneurship.

Rahim Amidi said that the Plug and Play Tech Center is a startup-oriented ecosystem. Since its entry into China 2 years ago, it has flourished at an expeditious pace. One of its defining features is its inclusiveness. It encourages more startups to experiment with their creative ideas and connects them with corporations.

At the forum, Wu Xiaobo, Dean of the School of Management, delivered a speech entitled “Startups in China: Opportunity Windows”; Peter Davidson shared with the participants his feelings about entrepreneurship; Top Kosnik gave a speech entitled “Gear up: Framework for Creating New Markets and Disrupting Existing Markets”.
