HKUST delegation visits Zhejiang University

On December 22, Professor Nancy Y. Ip, President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Professor GUO Yi-Ke, Provost of HKUST, and other members of the HKUST delegation visited Zhejiang University. Professor MA Yanming, President of Zhejiang University, met with the guests.

Professor MA extended a warm welcome to Nancy Ip and her delegation. He briefed them on Zhejiang University’s recent progress and reviewed the progress made by the two universities in faculty and student exchanges as well as scientific research. He noted that Zhejiang University places immense importance on its partnership with HKUST and expressed the hope of further deepening cooperation in fields such as medicine, health sciences and artificial intelligence. He also highlighted the potential for establishing joint research platforms and enhancing collaboration in cultivating future-oriented, high-level innovative talent.

Professor Ip spoke highly of the fruitful outcomes of cooperation between the two universities and congratulated Zhejiang University on its recent accomplishments. She remarked that Zhejiang University is among HKUST’s most important partners and that the two sides have built a solid foundation for cooperation across a wide range of disciplines.  Looking ahead, she expressed the expectation that the two universities would further expand joint talent-training initiatives in key disciplines, jointly develop research platforms, and explore new opportunities for future development.

During the visit, Professor Ip and her delegation also toured the First Affiliated Hospital, the Second Affiliated Hospital, and the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital of Zhejiang University to further promote cooperation in the medical field.
