This Women's Day, meet ZJU's logistics heroines

2026-03-08 Global Communications

A well-ordered campus, clean classrooms, and convenient daily life at Zhejiang University all rely on the quiet dedication of logistics staff. This International Women's Day, we shine a spotlight on three women whose everyday efforts bring extraordinary warmth to our campus.

WANG Guoqin: 25 years of "Hellos", turning a supermarket into home

At the Qiushi store on Yuquan Campus, it feels like more than just a place to shop—it's a warm home. For 25 years, store supervisor WANG Guoqin has welcomed every teacher and student with a hello, her unwavering warmth a constant presence.

She once personally delivered water by e-bike for an urgent meeting. Near the university hospital, she stocks low-cost essentials. For international students, she bridges language gaps with smiles and patience. To colleagues, she is the family anchor, patiently mentoring new employees and genuinely caring for seasoned ones. She credits the store's success not to herself, but to everyone who sweats together.

Her warm "hello" to everyone isn't just politeness—it's genuine respect that has defined her 25-year journey.

HU Weina: 20,000 steps a day to serve "one step faster"

On Zijingang Campus, a familiar figure is always on the move in the West Teaching Buildings. To avoid disrupting classes or delaying students, HU Weihua forgoes the elevator, dashing up and down stairs to respond to every repair request and call for help. "One step faster" is her service commitment.

Opening doors, finding lost items, fixing equipment—she handles nearly 30 tasks daily, walking over 20,000 steps. When her family worries about her demanding job, she simply says, "Seeing the gratitude and recognition from teachers and students makes all the effort worthwhile."

Most inspiring is her transformation from someone who had never touched a computer to a skilled multimedia troubleshooter. Through persistent practice in empty classrooms, she now resolves most issues in under a minute.

In her ten-plus years at ZJU, HU Weihua has spent three Spring Festivals on campus, saying "celebrating with everyone here, and waiting for them to come home."

CHEN Juan: The library housekeeper making service a warm journey

Behind the scenes of modern Main Library at Zijingang Campus lies the quiet dedication of property manager CHEN Juan. From meticulous preparations before its opening in 2023 to the rhythm of daily operations, she safeguards this 60,000-square-meter hub of knowledge with professionalism and a strong sense of duty.

During the pre-opening phase, CHEN Juan led her team on a systematic, floor-by-floor inspection of the vast new building. In daily operations, she champions customized service: tailored cleaning plans, adding bumpers to furniture, organizing umbrellas on rainy days. Her phone is on 24/7, adhering to the principle: "Find the housekeeper for everything, and the housekeeper sees it through."

The true warmth of her service shines in critical moments. When a student was injured near the bike shed, Chen Juan rushed to the scene, provided comfort and first aid, and accompanied the student to the hospital until help arrived. "Being needed by teachers and students is our greatest value," she says.

From WANG Guoqin's devoted presence, to HU Weina's swift steps, to CHEN Juan's professionalism—their stories reflect countless women supporting ZJU. With resilience and warmth, they shine in ordinary posts. Happy Women's Day!
