On April 14, Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President of Vietnam, attended the China-Vietnam Forum on Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation held at Tsinghua University.

GU Zhen, Associate Vice President of Zhejiang University (ZJU), attended the forum at the invitation of the organizers. During the event, the Memorandum of Understanding signed between ZJU and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMP) at Ho Chi Minh City was presented as one of the key achievements in China-Vietnam higher education cooperation. The agreement serves as a model for deepening exchanges and fostering collaborative innovation in medical education between the two countries.
During the forum, GU Zhen held in-depth discussions with Tran Diep Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of UMP at Ho Chi Minh City, on advancing all-round cooperation between the two institutions. He noted that ZJU will draw on key platforms, including its Belt and Road International School of Medicine and Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, to promote substantive collaboration with its Vietnamese partner in areas such as talent cultivation, scientific research, and clinical medicine. He added that the two universities will work together to improve the quality of medical education and strengthen scientific and technological innovation, thereby contributing to the development of the medical profession and the well-being of people in both countries.
The forum was jointly organized by Tsinghua University and Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Discussions focused on key issues such as talent development, industrial chain collaboration, sustainable development, artificial intelligence, and digital education. Among those attending the forum were YIN Li, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee; REN Youqun, Vice Minister of Education of China; and Hoàng Minh Sơn, Vietnam’s Minister of Education and Training.
