ZJU’s basketball warriors gear up for provincial championship

The 2026 Zhejiang Basketball Championship Super Challenge kicked off on April 24 in Hangzhou. Balancing research and sports is a daily challenge at ZJU. Captain PAN Yichen, a doctoral student, spends most of his time in the laboratory, utilizing fragmented moments for training. He expressed gratitude to his supervisor and colleagues for their support. Similarly, master’s student WU Junchao treats evening training as a way to relieve stress and recharge after a day of intensive experiments. In ZJU, time is never an excuse to give up on one’s passion.

The team also serves as a platform for mentorship. Senior players like PAN Yichen and CAO Ling often provide guidance to younger teammates, sharing insights on both basketball and life planning. For them, the most cherished moments are not just the victories, but the simple joys of late-night snacks after practice and casual chats on the sidelines.

As the tournament begins, the team is focused and determined. “Believe in yourself and trust the training,” said PAN Yichen. The ZJU basketball team is not just playing for a trophy; they are demonstrating the resilience and vitality of the ZJU spirit.
