On April 23, a delegation led by Kim Jin-pyo, former Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, visited Zhejiang University. The delegation included representatives from the business, media, and cultural sectors. GU Zhen, Associate Vice President of Zhejiang University, met with the guests for a roundtable discussion.

GU Zhen extended a warm welcome to the delegation and briefed them on Zhejiang University’s recent developments, as well as its exchanges and cooperation with the Republic of Korea. He noted that Zhejiang University has maintained close collaboration in education and research with Korean partner institutions, including Seoul National University. He also highlighted A Complete Collection of Goryeo Paintings, jointly compiled with the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies, as an important platform for cultural exchange between China and Korea. Looking ahead, he expressed hope that Zhejiang University will further leverage its academic strengths to deepen cooperation with Korean partners, promote mutual learning between civilizations, and enhance people-to-people ties, thereby contributing to stronger bilateral relations.

Kim Jin-pyo expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm reception and spoke highly of Zhejiang University’s achievements. He remarked that since China’s reform and opening-up, the country has made remarkable progress in frontier fields such as artificial intelligence and robotics, with universities playing a vital role. He expressed his hope that Korea and China will continue to work together to advance innovation in cutting-edge technologies, deepen people-to-people dialogue and promote cultural exchange, laying a solid foundation for long-term friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
During the meeting, representatives from the School of History, the College of Media and International Culture, the School of Art and Archaeology, the College of Control Science and Engineering, and the Zhejiang University Press delivered remarks. They exchanged views with the Korean delegation on topics including cultural heritage, film and media, artificial intelligence, and art publishing.

The delegation also toured the Zhejiang University Museum of Art and Archaeology, where they viewed the exhibitions The Compendium of Chinese Paintings Through the Ages: Yuan Dynasty Paintings and Bronzes and Their Stories: Selected Masterpieces from the Zhejiang University Museum of Art and Archaeology, and exchanged views with museum representatives.
Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Zhejiang University Office of Global Engagement also attended the event.
