President MA Yanming meets with delegation from World Bank, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan

On May 13, MA Yanming, President of Zhejiang University, met with a delegation from the World Bank, and three Asian countries — Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan — to discuss opportunities for cooperation in digital education.

MA Yanming extended a warm welcome to the delegation and shared an overview of Zhejiang University’s recent achievements. He noted that during the 2026 World Digital Education Conference, Zhejiang University signed memoranda of understanding with Kyrgyz State Technical University, the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, and Tashkent State Technical University. He expressed the hope that these agreements would open up new avenues for collaboration in areas such as knowledge sharing, capacity building, curriculum development, and artificial intelligence governance, thereby promoting the advancement of digital education.

Mirlan Chynybaev, Rector of Kyrgyz State Technical University, Namnan Tumurpurev, President of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, Donaev Sardor, Vice Rector of Tashkent State Technical University, and Diego Ambasz, Senior Education Specialist in the Education Global Practice at the World Bank, delivered remarks. They spoke highly of Zhejiang University’s progress in digital education and expressed interest in deepening cooperation in digital transformation, faculty training, student exchange, and joint research. They also encouraged students from their home countries to pursue further studies at Zhejiang University.

During the visit, the delegation also participated in a symposium with enterprises founded by Zhejiang University alumni, where they gained a deeper insight into the university’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem and explored potential areas for cooperation.

Also present at the meeting were representatives from the Office of Global Engagement, the Undergraduate School, the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the Institute of Global Development.
