The "Pioneer Cup" Campus Karting Race - College Round, Zhejiang University International Campus recently kicked off. Twelve teams composed of both Chinese and international students gathered on the circular track to compete in a thrilling display of speed and teamwork.

The 12 teams represented a diverse mix of nationalities, majors, and academic years. Each team consisted of an ace driver and a team manager. While the drivers focused on pushing the limits on the track, the managers were responsible for overall coordination, including driver handovers, tactical planning, and pit stop timing. Close communication between Chinese and international teammates was crucial in determining qualifying strategies and pit stop windows.

The atmosphere at the track was electric, with colorful flags fluttering and go-karts lined up at the starting grid. Drivers, clad in professional racing suits and safety helmets, secured their starting positions through intense qualifying rounds. In the pit lane, team managers coordinated strategies while a dedicated volunteer team ensured smooth operations by guiding participants, tuning the karts, and providing supplies.
As the green light flashed, the engines roared to life. The race featured high-speed sprints on the straights and fierce battles for position in the corners. Despite occasional setbacks or minor errors, the drivers quickly adjusted and returned to the track. The driver handovers in the pit lane required seamless coordination, highlighting the strong spirit of teamwork among the participants.
Beyond the competition, the event served as a bridge for cultural exchange. Multilingual cheers echoed throughout the venue, and teammates celebrated with high-fives after crossing the finish line. The shared passion for racing brought students of different backgrounds together, fostering deep cross-border friendships.
Jointly organized by the Department of Public Physical and Art Education of ZJU and the International Campus, and hosted by the Residential Colleges of the International Campus, the competition showcased the vitality, unity, and collaborative spirit of the campus community.
