From May 13 to 15, the 2026 China Academic Conference on Educational Technology was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, hosted by the China Association for Educational Technology and organized by ZJU's College of Education. The event gathered over 1800 participants from education authorities, universities, primary and secondary schools, and enterprises. Centered on thetheme Breakthroughs and Transformations: Educational Technology Research and Development in the AI Era, it fostered cross-sector dialogues on AI-driven education innovation.

Opening remarks were delivered by YANG Zongkai (President, the China Association for Educational Technology), SHU Peidong (Vice Director, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education), and CHEN Gang (Vice President, Zhejiang University). Prof. KAN Yue, Dean of ZJU’s College of Education (CoE), chaired the second plenary session.

The CoE hosted the Forum on Innovative Development of Educational Digitalization, chaired by Prof. LI Yan (Director, CoE's Department of Curriculum and Learning Sciences). Prof. ZHONG Zhixian delivered an opening address, emphasizing that technologyempowers rather than replaces teachers, freeing them to focus on nurturing students. Five experts then presented key insights on the evolving role of teachers, learner-centered AI design, human-machine collaborative teaching, future teacher development, and generative AI-enabled educational affective computing.
A round-table discussion centered on AI's application in K-12 education. Participants agreed AI enhances personalized learning. Cases included AI essay grading, AI-assisted poetry writing, and digital teaching companions. Experts warned against "tech-centricity", stressing education's humanistic core.

The conference consolidated consensus on AI-education integration, advancing human-centered digital transformation in education.
